For 25 years he has been working in his own practice as a paediatrician and as a co

leader of the department of neonatology in a maternity hospital in Munich. He has broad

experience both in all fields of children ambulatory medicine, development, ultrasound,

travel medicine and neonatal clinical medicine.

For the last 20 years he has been volunteering for Ärzte der Welt (ặdW), the German

section of the international network of the NQn, Government Organisation (iNGO),

Médesins du Monde (MDM). MDM is providing health care in national and international

projects for people with no access to healthcare combined with advocacy for their

beneficiaries.

In his function as a volunteer and board member he has been working in a national

project in Munich for children without health insurance. Additionally, he visited several

projects in Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia focusing on Mother Child Health and

Mental Psychological Health. Since 2022 he has been leading AdW as its president.

He has wealth knowledge about populations in migration, internal displaced people and

vulnerable populations in war and other crisis settings and the response in ongoing

(mental) health and rehabilitation projects of the network of MDM on national and

international level - facing a new dimension of pressure on iNGQs due to worldwide

financial cuttings and dramatically worsening security situations on the field.
