Sarah Grace Nadler, Prof., LMHC

(USA) Animal-Assisted Psychotherapist and Prof. of Animal Studies at Eckerd College

Sarah Grace Nadler, LMHC, C-AAIS, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Animal- Assisted Intervention Specialist with over a decade of clinical experience in private practice.

She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Eckerd College and both M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in Counseling from the University of Florida. Now in her eighth year as a professor, she teaches

across the fields of Psychology and Animal Studies, and has developed original residential and study abroad courses such as Biophilic Self-Actualization, Animal-Assisted Interventions,

Animal Controversy Seminar, and Integrative Therapies: Dolphins.

Her greatest professional joy comes from traveling with students to explore healing relationships between humans, animals, and nature—while honoring the wisdom of diverse cultures. Passionate about the mutualistic potential of human-animal connections, she leads a student trainer program for therapy dogs on campus. Her late dog Comrade served as her co-

therapist for 13.5 years; Orlo and Murray are currently in training—and one is even involved in collaborative animal cognition research as the first video game-playing dog at Eckerd.

Fun fact: she met her husband while rehabilitating rescued manatees.
