Shirley Lo-A-Njoe, Dr.
(Curaçao) Pediatric Cardiologist at the Curaçao Medical Center
Shirley M. Lo-A-Njoe (MD) was born in Suriname and raised in the Netherlands.
Her specialization in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology was done at the University Hospitals inGroningen and Amsterdam, the dept. of pediatrics in the St. Elisabeth Hospital on Curaçao and, respectively, in CAHAL (LUMC, AMC, VUMC), the Netherlands.
From 2006 onwards, she has worked on Curaçao as a pediatric cardiologist, collaborating with pediatricians, obstetricians, cardiologists, and GPs from our islands, especially Aruba and Bonaire. For more than 15 years she is now actively participating in the pediatric cardiology screenings missions (“kinderhart missies”) in Suriname, in which the whole pediatric population
is seen in collaboration with the pediatric and adult cardiologist and pediatricians of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (Suriname) and the Dutch team of CAHAL.
Since 2019, she has been involved in cardio-rehabilitation of her patients on Curaçao. Together with the Amsterdam UMC, a cardio-genetic PhD research project has been initiated for the
pediatric population of the Dutch Caribbean.
On Curaçao, she has organized international conferences on Congenital Heart Disease and co-organizer of the Family Centered Care Conferences and the FCC-NICU research for RMHC Curaçao and the RMHC Research Center.
